Diwali Pooja
Diwali is one of the highly revered and loved festival of socio-religious and spiritual significance and it is celebrated on the 15th day of the dark fortnight in the auspicious Kartik amavasya (hindu Month) that falls on the no moon day. It is the festival of lights, delight, brightness, grandeur, and happiness. The Diwali puja includes religious ceremonies with 5 days puja as a whole and main puja of all this is puja of ganesh-lakshmi that is carried out on the 3rd day. Divali festival runs for five days and it includes Dhanteras, Narak Chaturdasi/Choti diwali along with Lakshmi Puja, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Duj puja. Main celebration occurs on third day which is associated with Lakshmi puja/Diwali. All the five days are celebrated with great joy and each day has specific significance that enlightens one’s soul.
Dhanteras  falls on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksha and it takes place just two days before Diwali. It is celebrated in honour of Lord Dhanavantri who was the physician of the gods and also understood as an incarnation of Vishnu. This is also known as “YAMADEEPDAAN” and on this day lamps are kept burning throughout the night in reverential adoration of Lord Yam who is the god of death. Purchasing gold, silver jewelries, utensils or other new articles on this day is considered highly auspicious. Conduction of puja on this day prevents worshipper from diseases, evil spirits and channelizes fulfillments, peace and prosperity. After this narak Chaturdasi or kali Chaudas is celebrated on the 14th and it is allotted for the worship of Maha-Kali or Shakti. It is extremely important for those who are into tantra. It is also celebrated as Choti Diwali and lights are lit and special rituals are offered to Goddess Lakshmi and Rama.
Diwali Laxmi Ganesh Puja is conducted on the third Day of Diwali and it is a worship and praise of Mahalakshmi and God Ganesha. Worshipping them along with Kuber during the festival will remove all obstacles and bring Good luck with Prosperity to all the family members. Govardhan Puja and Annakoot is performed on the fourth day of diwali and it commemorates the lifting of Mount Govardhan by Lord Krishna. Annakoot festival is also celebrated which is understood as mountain of food. Bhai Dooj is celebrated on the fifth day and it celebrates the beauty of the eternal bond of love and affection between a brother and a sister. On this day lord Vishnu visits house of sister.
